Buruku Township Renewal Gains Momentum as 5km Asphalt Road Project Intensifies

The Buruku Local Government Council has commenced construction of a five-kilometre asphalt road project with reinforced concrete drainage systems across eight major streets as part of the Buruku Township Renewal Initiative.

The project, being executed by Tratacom Nigeria Limited under the leadership of the Executive Chairman of Buruku Local Government Council, Hon. Raymond Zege Aondoakura, aims to improve transportation, enhance social connectivity, stimulate economic activities, and improve the overall aesthetics of the township.

A joint media inspection tour of the project was conducted on Friday, June 12, 2026, by a delegation of Benue-based online television platforms led by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media, Hon. Ahoho Terungwa. Work has already commenced on all eight roads, with reinforced concrete drainage completed on Ugoo Yough street.

The initiative forms part of the pilot phase of the rural road intervention programme being implemented across nine local government areas of Benue State under the administration of Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

Speaking during the inspection, the Supervising Engineer from the Ministry of Works, Engr. Paul Terwase, and the Head of Department of Works in Buruku LGC, Bito Godwin, described the project as a practical demonstration of renewed commitment to infrastructure expansion and grassroots development. They commended Governor Alia for providing a development-oriented template for governance.

Residents of Buruku Township, including Stephen Msonga and Akaan ya Mercy, expressed excitement over the development and commended Hon. Raymond Zege Aondoakura for translating the Governor’s vision into tangible projects at the grassroots level.

The Managing Director of Tratacom Nigeria Limited, Joseph Tarfa, assured residents of quality delivery to durable standards, noting that the project is expected to be completed within three months.
