A kidnapping attempt along the Ugbokolo-Aokpe road in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State was successfully foiled by vigilant youths of the Ugbokolo community.
According to reports, several individuals were initially abducted, but the community youths quickly mobilized, pursued the kidnappers, and managed to apprehend three suspects while securing the safe release of the victims.
The incident has been attributed to suspected Fulani kidnappers, with some accounts referring to them as “olokpachoko.” A relative of one of the victims expressed gratitude for the swift community intervention, while King Apeh Peterhot thanked God for the successful rescue, describing it as divine intervention.
The development has been celebrated locally as a demonstration of community vigilance in the face of rising insecurity. Residents have praised the youths for their bravery in protecting their people. No official confirmation has yet been issued by security agencies regarding the identities of the suspects or further details of the investigation.
