The Otukpo Local Government Council has commenced construction of a 5-kilometre asphalt road with reinforced concrete drainage systems in the Eupi community as part of the Otukpo Township Renewal Initiative.
The project, executed by GATAMI Enterprises Nigeria Limited, forms part of the pilot phase of the rural road intervention programme being implemented across nine local government areas in Benue State. A joint media inspection tour of the ongoing work was conducted on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Supervising Engineer Engr. Omoha Omoha assured residents that stringent monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to ensure adherence to specifications and timely completion of the project within three months. He described the initiative as a practical demonstration of the renewed commitment of local government administrations in the state to infrastructure expansion and grassroots development under Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Residents of Eupi, including Mr. Francis Oduh and Mrs. Mary Owoicho, expressed excitement over the project, describing it as one of the most significant infrastructure interventions in the area. They noted that the road will improve mobility, facilitate trade and commercial activities, reduce the risk of accidents, and enhance access to neighbouring communities.
The residents commended the Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, Hon. Prince Maxwell Ogiri, for translating Governor Alia’s development vision into tangible projects at the grassroots level. Almin Al-Kallas, representative of the contracting firm, also appreciated the warm reception and cooperation from the host community.
The project is expected to provide lasting economic and social benefits to thousands of residents while advancing inclusive and sustainable development across Benue State.
