Gbemacha Youth Council Demands Release of Young Man Detained by Nigerian Air Force

The Gbemacha Youth Council in Mbaviu, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, has issued a public statement raising alarm over the alleged detention of a young man by operatives of the Nigerian Air Force.

According to the statement, in the early hours of today, Air Force personnel entered the young man’s home in Gbemacha, caused destruction, and took him away. His current whereabouts remain unknown, and no official statement has been issued by the authorities regarding his detention.

The Youth Council, led by Aondeaser Iortim, described the incident as distressing and urged the relevant authorities to provide immediate clarification and ensure the young man’s safe return. The group warned that if he is not released by tomorrow, they will have no choice but to stage a peaceful protest, which may include blocking the road linking Makurdi to Gboko, in order to seek justice.

The council emphasised its commitment to peace and justice while calling for a swift resolution to the matter. The statement was signed by the Youth Leader and several other concerned youths from the area.

As of the time of this report, there has been no official response from the Nigerian Air Force or other security agencies on the incident. The development has sparked concern among residents of Gbemacha and surrounding communities.
