The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has expressed profound sadness over the passing of Honourable Justice Terna Ufefa Puusu, a retired Chief Judge of Benue State.
Justice Puusu served as Chief Judge of the state from May 27, 1999, to October 19, 2005, leaving an indelible mark on the judiciary through his distinguished service.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia described the late jurist as an erudite scholar, a man of impeccable character, and a defender of justice who upheld the highest standards of professionalism and leadership in the judiciary.
“Justice Puusu was one of Benue’s finest legal minds, whose commitment to fairness, justice, and the rule of law will continue to inspire generations within the judiciary and beyond,” the Governor said.
Governor Alia called on members of the Bar and the Bench to honour the late Justice Puusu’s legacy by sustaining his ideals of integrity, impartiality, and respect for the constitution. He urged the family, the judiciary, and the entire state to find solace in the fact that Justice Puusu lived a fulfilled and worthy life.
The Governor prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and assured that his contributions to the justice system in Benue State and Nigeria will be remembered for generations to come.
