The Executive Secretary of the Benue State Education Quality Assurance and Examinations Board (BEQAEB), Dr. Terna Francis, has commenced a comprehensive monitoring exercise across selected examination centres as the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) kicked off on Monday, June 1, 2026.
Dr. Francis visited several schools in Makurdi including Padopads Secondary School, Harmony Secondary School, UBE Junior Secondary School at Owner-Occupier Housing Estate, Frazer College, and Holy Rosary College to assess the conduct of the examinations.
According to a statement by the Board’s Information Officer, Jeffrey Adzam, the monitoring exercise was aimed at evaluating the performance of supervisors, ensuring strict compliance with examination guidelines, and addressing any challenges that could affect the smooth conduct of the exams.
At the centres visited, activities were reported to be well coordinated, with candidates properly seated and engaged, while supervisors maintained vigilance. No cases of examination malpractice were recorded during the visits.
Dr. Francis acknowledged minor hitches such as delays in the distribution of examination materials, which are common on the first day, but expressed overall satisfaction with the level of preparedness. He urged schools to promptly report any challenges to the BEQAEB Situation Room.
The BEQAEB boss reiterated the Board’s commitment to upholding the integrity, credibility, and smooth conduct of the examination process across Benue State.
