Ada Fredrick Okwori, an Idoma woman from Benue State, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP) for the 2027 general elections, setting her sights on Nigeria’s highest political office.
Okwori secured the party’s ticket through a consensus arrangement during the NDP presidential primary election conducted across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The process was supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and relevant electoral guidelines.
Announcing the result at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, Chairman of the Presidential Electoral Committee, Engr. Umar Danjuma Emimamaru, declared Okwori the consensus candidate following what he described as a unanimous endorsement by party members nationwide.
Party officials described the primary process as transparent, peaceful, and a demonstration of internal democracy. According to the NDP, Okwori’s emergence reflects the confidence of party stakeholders in her leadership capacity and the desire to present an alternative vision for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
