All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Benue State, Honorable Terwase Orburnde, has formally filed a petition at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, challenging the outcome of the Benue State APC governorship primaries held recently.

In the petition, Orburnde rejected the results announced on May 22, 2026, at the APC State Secretariat in Makurdi, describing the exercise as a gross violation of the Electoral Act 2026, the APC Constitution, and the guidelines for direct primary elections.

He argued that the primaries failed to meet basic standards of transparency, fairness, and credibility, as electoral materials and officials were not deployed to the majority of wards across the state. According to him, thousands of APC members waited at their ward headquarters with membership cards but neither voting nor proper counting took place. Despite this, fictitious scores were allegedly manufactured and announced as official results.

Orburnde described the development as a direct assault on internal democracy and an insult to the collective intelligence of party members who had mobilized for the exercise. He demanded the nullification of the purported results and called for fresh, transparent, and credible governorship primaries where all duly registered APC members would be given the opportunity to participate.
