Fire Guts Hostel at St. Winifred’s Secondary School, Ihugh

A fire outbreak occurred this morning at St. Winifred’s Secondary School in Ihugh, Benue State, destroying an entire hostel building.

According to a statement released by the school authorities, the fire broke out around 11:00 a.m. in one of the hostels while students were back from break and seated in their classrooms for studies.

Emergency protocols were quickly activated, but the entire hostel building was completely destroyed, with nothing salvaged from the structure. Fortunately, no casualties or serious injuries were reported among the students or staff.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, though the school administration has already commenced preliminary investigations into the incident.
