MOAUM Governing Council Announces Major Welfare Interventions for Staff

The Governing Council of the Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), has announced significant progress in addressing staff welfare concerns through various interventions supported by the Benue State Government under Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Among the key achievements is the commencement of payment for 22 months of arrears on the 25/35 percent Wage Award and Minimum Wage. The state government has released funds for the first tranche of the agreed five-installment payment plan, which has already been implemented.

The Council also approved the release of the first tranche for settling promotion arrears dating back to 2018, to be paid from the University’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). Additionally, funds have been released to offset pension arrears owed to retirees from the Main Campus and the College of Health Sciences, with several months of outstanding pensions now settled. Pension remittances to Pension Fund Administrators remain largely up to date.

In further support, the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) for three months has been released, with the first instalment already paid and the balance to be settled in instalments. The 2025 promotion exercise has been concluded, with promotion letters distributed to beneficiary staff, while outstanding cases of omitted or underpaid Earned Academic Allowances have been addressed.

These interventions demonstrate the commitment of the Benue State Government and the University’s Governing Council to staff welfare, industrial harmony, and the creation of a conducive environment for teaching, learning, and research.
