Pregnant Woman Repeatedly Assaulted by Partner in Aliade, Benue State, Community Alert Raised

A case of alleged domestic violence has been reported in Aliade, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, where a pregnant woman is said to be enduring repeated physical assaults from her partner.

According to a message shared from an inbox to a community figure identified as Zeye’Orkwande Suhnen, the woman was abandoned after becoming pregnant by her husband’s cousin, but was taken in by her mother-in-law, who reportedly regards her as a daughter. Despite this arrangement, the partner has allegedly continued to beat the woman at every given opportunity. The informant shared images of the victim’s injuries, drawing attention to the severity of the situation.

The incident has renewed calls for urgent intervention by local authorities, women’s rights groups, and community leaders to protect the victim and bring the alleged perpetrator to justice. As of the time of this report, no official statement has been issued by the Gwer East Local Government Council or the Benue State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare regarding the case.
