His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Executive Governor of Benue State, has extended warm congratulations to women across the state and globally on the occasion of International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the governor celebrated the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women in shaping society, economy, and culture. He recognized their tireless efforts, sacrifices, and dedication to family, community, and nation-building as truly inspiring.
Governor Alia reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to empowering women through targeted initiatives, spotlighting the Aliá Cares program, which has benefited over 5,000 women across all 23 local government areas. He also pointed to the 2026 state budget, which includes significant allocations for women’s empowerment programs focused on financial inclusion, skills acquisition, and social protection.
“To all women in Benue State, we see you, we appreciate you, and we are committed to creating an enabling environment for you to thrive. Your contributions are invaluable, and we will continue to support and empower you,” the governor stated.
The message underscores the Alia administration’s ongoing emphasis on gender equity, inclusive development, and ensuring women play central roles in Benue’s progress and prosperity.
