A resident of Konshisha Street in Makurdi, Mr. Shamo Vershima V., has publicly denied claims that he trains snakes at his home, following a viral report of an escaped reptile causing alarm in the neighborhood. In a statement issued today, Vershima clarified that he is involved in the legitimate buying and selling of reptiles, including snakes, to verified clients for approved purposes, but emphasized he is not engaged in training or breeding them.
The incident unfolded earlier today when a snake, allegedly from Vershima’s residence, was discovered in a neighbor’s kitchen box, leading to widespread fear and online speculation. Reports described the snake as having escaped, prompting residents to express concern over potential dangers in the area. Upon discovering the situation, Vershima acted swiftly but found the snake had already been killed by the time he arrived. He expressed regret for any inconvenience or fear caused to the community.
“For the sake of transparency, I invite any concerned residents or community representatives to visit my residence for verification,” Vershima stated in his public letter. He added that he is open to inspections by local authorities to confirm he does not engage in snake training or breeding activities.
