Free Eye Care Outreach for Residents of Oju and Obi LGAs in Benue State

Residents of Oju and Obi Local Government Areas in Benue State are set to benefit from a free eye care outreach programme sponsored by Hon. Dr. Francis Ottah Agbo.

The initiative aims to bring vision support closer to the grassroots by providing free eye examinations and distribution of prescription glasses to those in need.

The programme will commence in Oju Local Government Area from April 6 to April 10, 2026, at the General Hospital. Services will run daily from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Obi Local Government Area will host its own session from April 13 to April 17, 2026, at Okwubi’s Palace, Obarike Ito, following the same daily schedule.

Community members have welcomed the gesture, noting that it comes at a critical time when many residents struggle to afford basic healthcare, particularly vision-related services.

Organisers have urged eligible residents to come out early for the outreach, as the programme is time-bound and high demand is anticipated.

The free medical eye care programme and distribution of prescription glasses is expected to significantly improve the quality of life for beneficiaries in both local government areas by addressing common vision problems that often go untreated due to financial constraints.
