Mbagma Community Hails Gov. Alia, Hon. Gabo as Construction Begins on Key Bridges

Residents of Mbagma in Mata State Constituency of Benue State have applauded Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia and the Member representing Mata State Constituency, Hon. Dr. Simon Gabo, following the commencement of construction work on two strategic bridges in the area.

The bridges, known as Asasi 1 and Asasi 2, located in Tsumba Mbagma, were officially flagged off during a visit by officials of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). The delegation was led to the community by Hon. Simon Gabo.

Speaking during the inspection and commencement exercise, officials of the project assured residents of the timely completion of the bridges, describing the intervention as a critical step toward improving transportation, agricultural marketing, and rural connectivity in the constituency.

The RAAMP delegation, which included Mr. Stephen Iyoh, Engr. Akpen Fevôson, and contractor Hon. Jato, commended Governor Alia for approving the projects and praised Hon. Gabo for facilitating their execution. They urged the people of Mbagma to sustain their support for both leaders in order to attract more developmental projects to the area.

Community leaders and stakeholders who spoke at the event described the projects as long-awaited interventions capable of transforming economic and social activities in the affected communities.

Hon. Dr. Sylvester Igbudu called on residents to remain united and committed to the continuity of the Alia administration, noting that the present government has demonstrated commitment to grassroots development.

The APC Chairman for Mbagma, Hon. Barnabas Humbe, described Hon. Gabo as a capable and result-oriented representative whose performance has earned him another mandate from the people. He maintained that the lawmaker’s developmental strides should not be interrupted.

Responding, Hon. Simon Gabo described the bridges as “special gifts” from Governor Hyacinth Alia to the people of Mbagma. He added that more projects, including rural electrification and road construction, would soon commence in the area.

In a related development, Hon. Elijah Tule announced his withdrawal from the race for the Mata State Constituency seat in support of Hon. Gabo’s re-election bid, while Hon. Alex Orshi urged the people to remain united in support of the lawmaker.

The traditional ruler of the area, the district head of Mbagma, Zaki Gregory Gateh, also pledged the community’s support and assured contractors of a peaceful and secure working environment throughout the construction period.

Other dignitaries present at the event included Hon. Godwin Malu, Hon. Benedict Yawe, Hon. Terlumun Huel, Hon. Hungwa Iusa, Hon. Hinkpe, among several political stakeholders and community leaders.

The development has further strengthened support for Governor Alia and Hon. Gabo ahead of the 2027 elections, with residents pledging massive backing for their re-election.
