The choir of Government Secondary School (GSS) Gboko has brought pride to Benue State after clinching overall victory at a keenly contested singing competition held to mark the 10th anniversary of “Voice.”
The talented students participated among nine secondary schools from across Benue State and dominated the event, securing multiple top positions and ultimately emerging as champions of the year.
The school’s choir excelled in several categories, including:
– Best in Compulsory (Set) Piece
– Best in Traditional Piece
– Most Improved Choir
– Best Male Conductor (Orduen Emmanuel)
– First Position (Overall Best) in Singing
In a post celebrating the achievement, the school highlighted the divine favour and hard work that led to the outstanding performance, stating that “God has yet crowned the effort of GSS Gboko with joy.”
The principal, Mr. Sase Andrew, and the school management received special commendation for providing the platform and opportunity for the students to showcase their talent. The choir also expressed deep appreciation to Uncle Sammy J. Benjamin Akam and Gbe Paul for their joint efforts and dedication during practice sessions, which played a key role in the success.
The victory has been hailed as a testament to discipline, talent nurturing, and collective support within the school community.
