Governor Alia Thanks President Tinubu for Additional Security Deployment in Benue

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the deployment of additional security personnel and logistics to strengthen safety and order across the state.

Speaking during the formal reception of the new security operatives, Governor Alia urged the officers to uphold peace and maintain law and order throughout Benue, emphasizing the state’s critical role as the nation’s food basket. He stressed that continued stability is essential to protect farmers, sustain agricultural production, and safeguard food security for the country.

The governor commended the security agencies for recent operational successes, particularly the rescue of nine abducted children in Utonkonkon, Ado Local Government Area. He called for sustained vigilance and proactive measures against all forms of insecurity, including kidnapping, banditry, and communal clashes.

Governor Alia specifically tasked the newly deployed officers with providing adequate protection for workers constructing the Nyihhemba–Abande road, describing the project as vital for improving rural mobility, access to markets, and emergency response in the affected communities.

He further appealed for heightened security during upcoming APC congresses across the state and reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to good governance, inclusive development, and the eradication of underdevelopment. The governor called on all citizens of Benue to continue supporting his government’s efforts to tackle insecurity and drive progress.

The remarks were confirmed by Chief Solomon Iorpev, Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication. The deployment is seen as part of ongoing federal support to complement state-level initiatives in addressing persistent security challenges in Benue.
