Benue State students have expressed gratitude to Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for facilitating their safe return from Jos, Plateau State, following the deployment of a convoy of over 30 buses to evacuate them.
The evacuation comes amid rising safety concerns in parts of Plateau State, prompting urgent calls for government intervention to protect students and indigenes studying outside their home state. According to the students, the governor acted swiftly by arranging a large convoy of buses to convey them safely back to Benue. The coordinated effort ensured an orderly and secure movement of the students, many of whom had expressed anxiety over their safety.
The intervention is being widely described as timely and proactive, reflecting the administration’s focus on the welfare of Benue indigenes, particularly those in vulnerable situations.
In a message of appreciation, the students commended the governor’s leadership and responsiveness. “We sincerely appreciate his swift action, care, and commitment to the safety and well-being of every Benue student,” the statement read. They further described the governor as a leader who prioritises his people, adding, “Thank you for putting your children first.”
