The Benue State Government under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has accelerated the redevelopment of the long-abandoned Macafe Park into a modern, world-class amusement and tourism destination, with construction already showing significant progress.
The ambitious project, driven by Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, is being executed by the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC) under the leadership of its Group Managing Director, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha Jr. A joint media tour of the site earlier today, Monday, May 4, 2026, revealed steady advancement, with visible structural developments.
Designed to meet international standards, the emerging facility will feature a blend of leisure and hospitality attractions, including water fountains, artificial waterfalls, a bush bar, and a multi-purpose event centre. Plans also incorporate expansive landscaped areas and modern amenities aimed at creating a welcoming environment for residents and tourists alike.
The project forms a critical component of Governor Alia’s broader strategy to reposition Benue as a viable hub for tourism and investment. Beyond its recreational appeal, the park is expected to stimulate local economic growth, generate employment opportunities, and enhance the overall urban aesthetics of Makurdi, the Benue State Capital City.
Although a specific completion timeline has not been disclosed, it is very optimistic that the revitalized park will emerge as a flagship attraction, redefining the leisure landscape of Benue State.
