The Benue State Government has announced that it is set to officially commission “Benue Rice,” the state’s own brand of rice, for public consumption in the coming days.

This development was made known through a statement by Benue State Network News, which highlighted that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has successfully begun producing its branded rice.

According to the report, rather than opting for a privately owned brand named after an individual, Governor Alia chose a public-oriented brand simply called “Benue Rice.” The statement drew a comparison with other brands such as Miva Rice and Goshen Water, which are privately owned, emphasizing that the governor deliberately avoided naming the rice or potential water brand after himself.

The post described Governor Alia as a selfless and servant leader who is committed to the service of the Benue people for the greater good of the majority. It further commended the Governor and the Director General of BENAGRO, Pharm. Peter Chieshe, for what it termed a significant “gift” to the people of the state.
