Benue Pensioners and Motorcycle Riders Buy Governorship Nomination Form for Governor Alia’s 2027 Re-election

In a strong show of support, the Benue State Pensioners Association, in collaboration with the Benue Motorcycle Association, has purchased a governorship nomination form for Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The groups stormed the Benue State Government House in Makurdi on Wednesday with a massive motorcade of commercial motorcycles to formally present the nomination form to the governor.

Aho ho Terungwa, who shared the development on Facebook, described the event as “Breaking News,” noting that the pensioners and okada riders jointly bought the form as a demonstration of their backing for Governor Alia’s re-election bid.

Photos from the event showed a long procession of hundreds of motorcyclists and supporters riding through the streets of Makurdi, heading towards the Government House. The large turnout highlighted the significant mobilization by the two influential groups.

Pensioners and commercial motorcyclists are considered critical voting blocs in Benue State politics. Their decision to purchase the nomination form and present it to the governor is being viewed as an early endorsement and a clear signal of grassroots support for his second term ambition.

Governor Alia, who is currently serving his first term, has not yet publicly declared his intention to run for re-election in 2027. However, actions such as this are increasingly common as political activities begin to heat up in the state.
