The Deputy Governor of Benue State and Chairman of the APC Communiqué Drafting Committee, Barr. Sam Ode, has issued a strongly worded disclaimer rejecting claims that the party agreed on an automatic ticket for Governor Hyacinth Alia, National Assembly members, and State Assembly members.
In the official disclaimer, Barr. Sam Ode clarified that no such resolution on automatic tickets was contained in the communique or draft from the reconciliation meeting convened by Governor Alia. He stated that some sponsored advertorials in national dailies mischievously misrepresented the outcome of the meeting.
The Deputy Governor explained that the drafting committee only produced a draft for the consideration and approval of Governor Hyacinth Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume. He stressed that the committee has no powers to issue or sign any communique on behalf of the Governor or Sen. Akume.
The document further noted that the APC has decided to adopt direct primaries for the nomination of candidates and warned that anyone behind the false publication is doing gross disservice to Governor Alia and the party leadership.
The disclaimer, dated May 5, 2026, and signed by Barr. Sam Ode, has sparked fresh reactions within Benue APC circles, with some stakeholders warning against trusting certain political actors in the ongoing reconciliation process.
The development highlights the deepening tension and suspicion within the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.
