Security personnel investigating the trafficking of five girls from Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State have tracked down one of the main suspects, identified as Skibo, to his village in Jootar, but he was not found at home.
According to a statement by Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya, the suspect has reportedly relocated to Taraba State. Security agencies have assured that he will not be able to evade capture indefinitely.
The family of the second suspect, Mr. Zoho Samuel Aondoazungwe, also from Jootar, has been instructed to produce him immediately. Authorities have vowed to take decisive action against all individuals involved in the trafficking saga.
A stern warning was issued to all human traffickers operating in the state, stating that they should be prepared for severe consequences if caught.
The development comes amid growing public concern over the case of the five Ukum girls who were allegedly trafficked to Mali. Security agencies have promised to provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
The incident has once again highlighted the persistent challenge of human trafficking in parts of Benue State, with calls for stronger border monitoring and community vigilance to protect vulnerable young girls.
