Speaking at the event held at LGEA Primary School, Agan, North Bank, Makurdi, Mr. Ikya assured the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. He described the opportunity as a “golden pathway” from grassroots participation to the elite professional level, underlining the club’s dedication to unearthing and nurturing young football prospects across Benue State.
The tournament, which is currently underway, has already earned widespread praise for its dual role in talent development and promoting unity through sports. In response, Rt. Hon. Embergera lauded the organizers for their unwavering focus on youth engagement and grassroots football. He emphasized that tournaments of this nature serve as powerful instruments for talent discovery, fostering unity, and building peace in the community. The Speaker charged all participants and stakeholders to maintain discipline and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, reminding everyone that every contest produces both winners and those who learn valuable lessons from defeat.
The colourful opening ceremony reached its high point when the Speaker officially set the ball rolling in the curtain-raiser match between Agan United and Young Stars FC. He was joined at the event by a host of dignitaries, including Commissioner for Science, Technology and Energy Innovation Hon. James Dwem, Hon.
