Makurdi Council Chairman Hon. Joseph Keffi Lauds Security Agencies as Two Kidnappers Arrested, Victims Rescued

The Executive Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Area, Hon. Joseph Keffi, has commended security operatives for their rapid and effective response that led to the rescue of several kidnapped residents and the arrest of two suspects in separate abduction incidents this week.

The successful operations came after a series of kidnappings that occurred in different parts of the council area. On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, three individuals—Mr. Saaondo, Mr. Terfa, and Mrs. Msuuurshima—were abducted in Atôô village. Then, on Friday, January 9, 2026, three more persons—Mrs. Hembabadoon Akiki, Mr. Terzungwe Iortyom, and Mrs. Kadoon Iortyom—were taken from Adem in the Bar Council Ward.

Through coordinated efforts involving the Nigerian Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and active participation from community leaders, all six victims were safely rescued. The operations also resulted in the arrest of two suspects identified as Mr. Ushahemba M. and Mr. Victor A.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Security and Political Matters, Hon. Beetseh Terhide Mark, Chairman Keffi expressed deep appreciation for the professionalism and swift action displayed by the security agencies. He described the collaboration as a clear demonstration of what can be achieved when security forces and local communities work together.

The chairman also used the opportunity to issue a strong warning to youths, cautioning them against involvement in criminal activities, particularly kidnapping. He urged all residents of Makurdi to remain vigilant, report any suspicious movements or individuals promptly to the relevant authorities, and continue to support ongoing security efforts.

Hon. Keffi reassured the people of Makurdi of his unwavering commitment to tackling insecurity across the local government area, emphasizing that the local administration will not relent in its support for security agencies and community-based initiatives aimed at restoring lasting peace and safety.
