The Benue State House of Assembly on Monday convened a public hearing to deliberate on the Benue State Revenue Service (Consolidation and Harmonisation) Bill, 2025, a legislative proposal designed to modernise and streamline the state’s tax administration system.

The bill seeks to repeal the existing State Internal Revenue Administration Law, 2022 (as amended), and establish a new framework under the Benue State Revenue Service Establishment Law, 2025. Proponents argue that the overhaul will enhance efficiency, reduce redundancies, and improve revenue collection mechanisms to better serve developmental needs across the state.
