In a major step towards sustainability and cost-efficiency, Benue Links Nigeria Limited, the state-owned transport company, has begun acquiring and developing permanent motor parks across Benue State and other parts of the country, effectively bringing an end to the era of paying heavy rents for operational spaces.

The General Manager of the company, Comrade Alexander Aondohemba Fanafa (KSM, MNIM), disclosed this on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, while hosting members of the Benue State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Power, Renewable Energy and Transport on an inspection tour of newly acquired parks.

Already, permanent parks have been secured in Ihugh (Vandeikya LGA), Adikpo (Kwande LGA), Zaki Biam (Ukum LGA), and Abuja FCT, with ongoing development work to equip them with modern passenger facilities.

Speaking during the tour, Comrade Fanafa said the strategic acquisition will not only expand the company’s asset base and guarantee long-term stability but will also save millions of naira previously lost to rent. He assured travellers that the new parks will feature decent waiting areas, toilets, shade, and other conveniences, adding that sanitation and passenger comfort remain top priorities.

In line with Governor Hyacinth Alia’s directive for affordable mass transit, the GM hinted that Benue Links is exploring a further reduction in transport fares nationwide to ease the burden on citizens, especially during the coming yuletide season.

Fanafa used the occasion to thank Governor Alia for the swift approvals that made the acquisitions possible and praised the House of Assembly members for finding time to carry out the oversight visit, describing it as the first of its kind in the company’s history.

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Manger Manger, lauded the management for the bold initiative. He particularly applauded the fencing and construction of toilet facilities already completed at Adikpo and Zaki Biam parks and urged the company to replicate the same standard across all locations. He rated the current leadership of Benue Links very highly and charged them to sustain the momentum.

Gbaden Ayangebee; and Administrative Manager Mr. Benjamin Yar (KSM).

With these permanent parks coming on stream, travellers on Benue Links routes can look forward to better facilities, improved services, and, hopefully, cheaper fares in the months ahead.
