In a heartwarming display of compassion, the Executive Secretary of the Bureau for Mines and Solid Minerals, Hon. Uta Stephen Aondonana, marked his 2025 birthday not with parties or fanfare, but by visiting ten hospitals and clinics across Adikpo in Kwande Local Government Area, settling the medical bills of over one hundred indigent patients.

From General Hospital Adikpo to private facilities like Iornenge Health Clinic and Maternity, Shaladoo Hospital, Holy Child Clinic, St. Monica Hospital, and Rejoice Clinic and Maternity, the story was the same: patients who had been detained or burdened by unpaid bills received instant freedom as Hon. Uta personally cleared their expenses and prayed for their quick recovery.

Speaking during the visits, the celebrant said he chose to celebrate with the sick because God has been merciful to him. “I am only sharing the joy of another year with those who need it most. There is no better way to say thank you to God than to put smiles on the faces of people in pain,” he said.

Medical directors and staff could barely hide their excitement. Dr. Iornenge Akuutu described the gesture as a lifeline, revealing that many patients had been financially overwhelmed and unable to complete their treatment. Patients and their relatives wept, prayed and waved as Hon. Uta moved from ward to ward, some calling him “angel in human form.”

This latest act of kindness is not isolated. Only weeks ago, the Stephen Aondona Uta Foundation sponsored a massive free medical outreach in Kwande that treated thousands of residents for various ailments. Today’s birthday medical mission has further cemented Hon. Uta’s reputation as one of Benue’s most compassionate public office holders.

As he left the last hospital, one elderly woman held his hand and blessed him: “My son, the God who remembered us through you today will never forget you.”

In a political space often dominated by noise and showmanship, Hon. Uta Stephen Aondonana chose quiet service on his special day, and in doing so, reminded everyone that true leadership is measured not in titles, but in the number of lives touched. Happy birthday, sir. The people of Kwande are proud of you.
