In a bold move that has stirred the political waters in Benue State, Hon. Sir Alex Addingi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on International Investment and Buruku LGA Point Man, has publicly rejected the recent dissolution of political appointees in Buruku Local Government Area by the council chairman, Hon. Raymond Zege Aondoakura.

In a strongly worded statement released on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Addingi described the decision as “ill-advised, poorly timed, and politically counterproductive,” especially as the All Progressives Congress (APC) ramps up grassroots mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He warned that such unilateral action, taken without broad consultation among party stakeholders, risks deepening divisions and undermining the local political structure at a time when unity is most needed. “Decisions of this magnitude should be consultative and inclusive,” Addingi emphasized, adding that collaboration—not dissolution—is the key to strengthening the APC’s foothold in Buruku.

The governor’s aide called on the council chairman to immediately reverse the decision in the interest of party cohesion and local stability. He further urged APC members and political appointees in the area to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to the progressive ideals of the party and the leadership of the governor.

Addingi’s statement comes amid growing tensions within the APC in Benue, where internal power struggles and local government leadership decisions are increasingly under scrutiny. With elections still two years away, moves like this are seen by many as early signals of positioning—and potential fractures—within the ruling party.

As the dust settles, all eyes are on Hon. Aondoakura: will he heed the call to reverse course, or will this mark the beginning of a deeper rift in Buruku’s political landscape?

“Long live Buruku LGA, long live the APC, and long live Benue State,” Addingi concluded—a rallying cry for unity in uncertain times.
