TUPI Appoints Rev. Fr. Mfa to Advisory Council, Seeks Collaboration for Tiv Unity

The Tiv Unity and Peace Initiative (TUPI) has paid a courtesy visit to Very Rev. Fr. Solomon Ukeyima Mfa Tivdoo, Parish Priest of St. Mark’s Parish Apir, to seek his support in advancing peace and unity in Tiv land.

During the visit on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the National President of TUPI, Comrade Washima Harris Tersoo, announced the appointment of Very Rev. Fr. Mfa as a member of the TUPI Advisory Council.

Comrade Harris commended the cleric for his consistent efforts in promoting unity through the annual Kyegh Sha Shwa (KSS) Festival, describing it as a unique platform that brings together Tiv sons and daughters regardless of political affiliations. He urged Fr. Mfa to sustain the initiative, noting its significant contribution to fostering unity among the Tiv people.

The group expressed concern over prevailing insecurity across Tiv land and lamented how politics, which should drive development, has become a source of division. They stressed the need for a united front involving political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and youths to overcome current challenges.

In his response, Very Rev. Fr. Mfa expressed optimism that Tiv leaders would recognize the value of unity and pledged his full support for TUPI’s non-partisan efforts. He emphasized that the progress and development of the Tiv people is a collective responsibility.

Other TUPI members, including Mr. Joseph Akaachii, Mrs. Martene Num, and Adom Degans, also lauded Fr. Mfa’s commitment to youth engagement and unity.
