A somber mood has enveloped the High Level area of Makurdi, the Benue State capital, following the devastating news of an 18-year-old identified as Tersoo Veregh, who was found dead, allegedly having taken his own life. The tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday at the family’s residence on Ior kya-ako Street, where the boy’s father, Mr. Veregh Nathaniel, reportedly discovered his son hanging from the ceiling around 2 a.m.
According to details shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama via X, police officers from the ‘B’ Division in Makurdi were immediately alerted. They swiftly responded, visiting the scene, documenting evidence, and evacuating the body to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) morgue for further examination.
Confirming the development, Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Udeme Edet, stated that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death has commenced. “We are aware of the incident, and investigation is ongoing,” Edet noted.
