The Honorable Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Rev. Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, has received high praise from the Kwande Journalists Forum (KJF) for his exceptional leadership qualities during a courtesy visit on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at his office in Makurdi. The group commended the Commissioner for his dedication and the remarkable skills that have elevated him to his current role.
Speaking on behalf of the KJF, Chairman Henry Ibya highlighted Rev. Dr. Ikyaan’s demonstrated capacity and trust earned through his previous positions, including his role as Director General of Alia/Ode campaign and Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management. Ibya emphasized the Commissioner’s choice of Akaha Sule as his Media Aide, a decision that has endeared him to the journalistic community. In response, the group pledged their support to ensure his success.
In his remarks, Rev. Dr. Ikyaan expressed gratitude and framed the visit as an invitation to collaborate, partner, and team up to improve society. He encouraged open communication, urging both parties to feel free to reach out to one another.
The Commissioner also shed light on the Governor’s deep commitment to infrastructure development, revealing plans to construct an airport in Makurdi with International, Domestic, and Cargo wings. This ambitious project aims to streamline exports directly from the region. Additionally, he announced the revival of the land use act committee to address land disputes, assuring that past policies enacted in the interest of Benue people will be upheld.
Addressing the sensitive issue of resettlement, linked to security concerns, Rev. Dr. Ikyaan affirmed the government’s dedication to finding a lasting solution. He expressed optimism, noting that a resolution is near and will naturally lead to resettlement as people decide to return on their own.
The visit underscored a mutual commitment to progress and collaboration, with the KJF and the Commissioner’s office poised to work together for the betterment of Benue State.
