The Chairman of ALGON Benue State Chapter and Executive Chairman of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Dr. Shaku Justine, today flagged off the disbursement of his scholarship for Katsina-Ala undergraduate students at the local government secretariat in the presence of 120 students selected for batch A of the scholarship scheme.
The flag-off ceremony was described as a significant milestone in the chairman’s commitment to empowering young people from his local government area through quality education. Speaking at the event, Rt. Hon. Dr. Shaku Justine emphasised the importance of education as the foundation for personal and national development, noting that the scholarship scheme is designed to support undergraduate students who have demonstrated academic excellence and financial need.
The 120 selected students from various tertiary institutions across Benue State and beyond were applauded for their dedication and hard work, with the chairman urging them to maintain their focus on their studies and to serve as role models in their communities. He assured the students that the scholarship would cover tuition fees, accommodation, and other related academic expenses, removing the financial burden that often discourages many young people from pursuing higher education.
The event, which drew a large turnout of stakeholders, parents, and community leaders, also featured a presentation of the scholarship packages to the beneficiaries. In his remarks, the chairman reiterated his belief that investing in education is one of the best investments a leader can make for the future of any community. He called on other stakeholders and development partners to support similar initiatives that promote access to quality education in Katsina-Ala and other parts of Benue State.
The scholarship programme, which is being coordinated under the auspices of ALGON Benue, is expected to benefit hundreds of students in the coming years and is a testament to the chairman’s proactive approach to community development. As the beneficiaries celebrate this milestone, they have been reminded that their success will not only bring pride to their families but also contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic growth of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area and the state at large.
With the flag-off ceremony now behind them, the selected students are being encouraged to work towards achieving their academic goals while upholding the values of integrity, discipline, and service to humanity. The chairman’s initiative is already generating positive buzz across the state, positioning him as a leader who truly understands the power of education in transforming lives and communities.
