A woman believed to be from Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State is seeking to reconnect with her family after being rescued from a Boko Haram insurgent camp by gallant officers of the Nigerian Army during a military operation in Taraba State a few months ago. According to her account, she was abducted during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, approximately 11–15 years ago, and remained in captivity until her recent rescue.
Following her rescue, she has received medical care, counseling, and security debriefing. However, due to the prolonged trauma she endured, she has been unable to accurately recall the identity of her family or the exact location of her hometown. The only consistent information she has provided is that she is from Kwande. Through the assistance of members of the Tiv community in Taraba State, she was taken to the palace of the Ter Kwande, where she is currently receiving temporary care and support. Despite several efforts by the traditional institution to trace her relatives using the limited information available, her family has not yet been identified. One additional clue she has provided is that she knows someone identified as Barr. Matu, which may assist in locating her relatives.
