The quiet community of Adim Akpa in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State came alive with celebration as sons and daughters of the community, alongside dignitaries from across the state, gathered to honour the Benue State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Chief Michael Oglegba, with a grand homecoming reception and the presentation of a prestigious community award.
The event attracted an impressive crowd, reflecting the high regard in which the Commissioner is held by his people and associates. Residents lined the streets to welcome the Finance Commissioner, while cultural dance troupes entertained guests with colourful performances that showcased the rich Idoma cultural heritage. Among those in attendance were top officials of the Benue State Government, members of the State Executive Council, traditional rulers, political leaders, captains of industry, business associates, family members, friends, APC faithful and numerous well-wishers from different parts of Benue State and beyond.
Speaking during the ceremony, several dignitaries described Hon. Oglegba as a humble, visionary and result-oriented public servant whose contributions to the development of Benue State continue to earn him admiration across political and social divides. They commended his commitment to prudent financial management and his unwavering loyalty to the administration of Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia. The organisers said the prestigious award was in recognition of Hon. Oglegba’s outstanding service to Benue State, his dedication to community development and his efforts in promoting good governance and accountability in public service. They expressed confidence that the honour would inspire him to continue rendering selfless service to the people.
Traditional rulers who spoke at the occasion offered prayers for the Commissioner, asking God to grant him greater wisdom, strength and good health as he continues to serve the state.
