Benue State House of Assembly Speaker, Berger Alfred Emberga, has voiced deep frustration over what he perceives as betrayal by his own kinsmen in a lengthy social media post.
Recounting his political journey, Emberga revealed that in 2018, he and others resigned from the Ortom administration in pursuit of the Ihyarev agenda. He claimed he was attacked and beaten, with his car destroyed for championing the cause, and credited Mimi Orubibi with paying his hospital bill.
Now serving as Speaker, Emberga expressed disappointment that the same leader who supported his rise to the position is being provoked by his own people. He stated, “The man who made me the Speaker must be provoked by my very own kinsmen I have followed in all my political life so that he would regret carrying my people along in his Government.”
The post, tagged #MyInterest, has sparked discussions and reactions online, with many interpreting it as part of ongoing political tensions within Benue State’s political circles, particularly involving loyalty, governance, and internal rivalries.
Emberga concluded with “It is well. Yes it is,” signaling resilience amid the perceived provocations. The development highlights the complex dynamics of political alliances and ethnic interests in the state.
