A concerned resident in Makurdi, Ukeyima John UKmoni, has publicly called out officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) stationed around AA Shafa Filling Station in Wurukum for allegedly engaging in harassment of motorists and creating unnecessary traffic bottlenecks.
In a strongly worded Facebook post, UKmoni claimed that the officers, under the guise of enforcement, are causing avoidable congestion on roads that are already reduced to single lanes. He narrated an incident that occurred this morning where FRSC officers, while harassing a motorist, nearly caused a serious accident involving a trailer.
“I witnessed it firsthand. When I confronted them about it, they were not pleased with my remarks,” he stated.
UKmoni described the situation as unacceptable, stressing that road safety officers are meant to ease traffic and ensure safety, not create additional problems for road users. He warned that if evidence of misconduct or bribery is found, it should be forwarded to appropriate authorities and brought to public attention.
The outspoken resident further revealed plans to organise a protest against the officers and is considering deploying someone with a camera to document their activities around the Wurukum axis for possible public exposure.
The post has sparked discussions on road safety enforcement practices in Makurdi, with many residents echoing concerns about overzealous operations that disrupt traffic flow instead of improving it.
