A shocking case of alleged child trafficking has been uncovered in Gboko, Benue State, following a joint operation involving intelligence and the Benue State Police Command.
According to a detailed report by Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya, a woman (referred to as the madam) was arrested after months of surveillance. During a search of her property, four children were discovered living in her boy’s quarters without their parents present. Further search of the main building revealed another child crying in an apartment.
The suspect reportedly confessed to recently sending an agent to Port Harcourt with ₦400,000 to bring a 7-year-old girl to Gboko, whom she sold to someone. Authorities are investigating whether she was involved in buying children from other states and selling them in Benue, or vice versa.
The arrested woman is currently in custody at the State CID, where investigations are ongoing. Evidence including voice recordings and transaction details have reportedly been gathered.
The case has sparked widespread concern in the area, with many describing the discovery as disturbing and calling for thorough investigation into what appears to be a possible baby factory or child trafficking network operating in Gboko.
