In a swift response to the ongoing unrest in Jos, the Manager of Benue Links Nigeria Limited, Comrade Alexander Fanafa, has deployed additional buses to evacuate Benue students stranded in the city. The move follows directives from Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, who has prioritised the safety and welfare of Benue indigenes studying outside the state.
The evacuation is part of a phased operation, with over 30 buses already sent yesterday and more dispatched today to ensure a smooth, secure return for affected students. Sources within Benue Links confirmed that the exercise is being conducted under tight safety measures, reflecting the government’s commitment to the protection of its citizens.
Some students who have been evacuated expressed relief and gratitude, describing the intervention as timely and reassuring amid uncertainty caused by the unrest. Governor Alia’s administration has emphasized that the welfare of students remains a top priority, and officials are closely monitoring the operation to ensure all stranded students are safely brought home.
