A viral social media post by Tiv activist Tivta Samuel Aondodhemba has drawn fresh attention to what he described as a “pathetic” and “heartbreaking” security situation in parts of Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, including Turan, Tombo, Mbater, and surrounding communities.

In the widely shared message, accompanied by photos purportedly showing women and children fleeing in panic, Aondodhemba alleged that armed Fulani militias continue to attack and destroy Tiv settlements, forcing mass displacement and loss of lives. He claimed the assaults are ongoing despite the presence of the current administration led by Governor Hyacinth Alia, accusing the state government of maintaining silence and failing to take decisive action.

The activist further alleged that individuals who speak out about the killings face suppression, while even dignified responses to tragedies are being obstructed. He specifically referenced an incident in Kwande Local Government Area, where a planned mass burial for victims was reportedly stopped by the council chairman, Hon. Vitalis T. Neji, describing it as a denial of justice and dignity even in death.

“What is really going on? Why are these killings continuing without clear action from the government?” Aondodhemba asked, expressing frustration over the lack of visible intervention or public statements addressing the violence.

The post has reignited online discussions about persistent insecurity in rural Benue communities, particularly in areas affected by long-standing farmer-herder tensions. Residents and commentators have echoed calls for stronger security deployment, transparent communication from authorities, and urgent measures to protect vulnerable populations.

No official confirmation or detailed response has been issued by the Benue State Government or security agencies regarding the specific claims in the post at the time of this report. However, similar allegations of militia attacks and displacement have surfaced periodically in Logo and neighboring LGAs, highlighting ongoing challenges in restoring lasting peace to affected areas.
