Governor Alia Reflects on Benue’s Recovery Journey in Diaspora Virtual Town Hall

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State has shared an optimistic assessment of the state’s progress, highlighting substantial gains in security, infrastructure, economic revival, and social services during the 2nd Virtual Town Hall Meeting with the Benue diaspora community.

In a lengthy post on X following the session, which ran from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., the governor described the engagement as a passionate and productive exchange driven by a collective commitment to a better Benue. He candidly recounted the challenging conditions inherited by his administration—widespread insecurity, dilapidated infrastructure, weakened institutions, and economic difficulties—and outlined the deliberate measures being implemented to rebuild and reposition the state for long-term, sustainable growth.

Governor Alia pointed to significant reductions in insecurity as a major achievement, noting that many internally displaced persons are now returning to their communities. He also highlighted renewed investments in education and healthcare, alongside efforts to revive the economy through targeted focus on agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT), industry, and strategic investments.

The governor emphasized steady progress on critical road projects and other key infrastructure developments, crediting strong collaboration with the federal government for accelerating these initiatives. He described the overall trajectory as one of restoration and repositioning, with visible improvements beginning to impact daily life across the state.
