University Issues Public Disclaimer Over Fraudulent Facebook Account Impersonating Vice-Chancellor Professor Alabar

The management of Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, has alerted staff, students, and the general public to the existence of a fraudulent Facebook account falsely claiming to represent the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar.

In a public disclaimer issued on Tuesday, 28th April 2026, the university stated that the fake account is being used by criminal elements to mislead unsuspecting individuals, request money, and promote non-existent opportunities and transactions. The university strongly condemned the act of impersonation and warned that it constitutes a serious criminal offence.

For the avoidance of doubt, the management clarified that Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar does not use Facebook or any social media platform to conduct official business, offer contracts, facilitate admissions, or request financial payments of any kind.

Members of the public are advised to ignore and block any such fraudulent accounts or messages, avoid responding to or engaging with individuals behind the account, and report all suspicious activities promptly to relevant security agencies.

The university stated that it is working with appropriate authorities to identify those responsible for the illegal act, adding that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law. The disclaimer was signed by Funmilayo Augustina Tolufashe, Director of the Directorate of Information, Protocol and Public Relations.
