SUBEB Chairman Dr. Grace Adagba, Felicitates Governor Hyacinth Alia on Diamond Jubilee, Lauds Transformative Education Reforms

Dr. Grace Adagba, Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has extended a heartfelt message of felicitation to Governor Reverend Father Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia on the occasion of his 60th birthday, celebrated as his Diamond Jubilee.

In the congratulatory message, Dr. Adagba commended Governor Alia’s visionary leadership, which she said has inaugurated a new era of hope, reform, and restoration in the education sector of Benue State.

Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, the governor’s administration has demonstrated steadfast commitment to progressive governance. The SUBEB Chairman particularly highlighted the remarkable strides in basic education, describing them as the most brilliant manifestation of the governor’s redemptive purpose.

Key achievements noted include the recruitment of over 9,700 teachers, consistent payment of salaries, and the implementation of a harmonised retirement age policy, which have restored dignity to the teaching profession. These interventions have led to a significant increase in school enrolment across all 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

Dr. Adagba also praised the establishment of PROJECT BRACE-UP (Building Rights to Access and Compulsory Education for Un-enrolled Pupils), which has strengthened efforts to identify, enrol, and retain out-of-school children through community mobilisation.

On infrastructure development, the message highlighted the construction and rehabilitation of 422 classrooms, two hostels with 80-bed capacity, 340 toilets, 93 offices, and 36 digital and non-digital libraries. Other interventions include motorised boreholes for schools, proper fencing for enhanced security, and the provision of thousands of pieces of standardised school furniture and learning materials.

The SUBEB Chairman described Governor Alia’s stewardship as transformational leadership defined by measurable impact, social inclusion, and enduring legacy. She prayed for continued wisdom, sound health, and strength for the governor as he advances the task of building a greater Benue State.
