Residents of Jato-Aka spent a restless night after a loud, unusual cry resembling that of a cow but described as far more intense echoed across the town in the early hours of Wednesday. According to a Facebook post by Hrh Kingsley Nguuma, the sound began around 1 a.m. and continued intermittently until about 3:30 a.m., leaving many people awake and unsettled.
The post stated that the cry was deep, prolonged, and distinctly different from any normal animal sound. It reportedly started from the eastern side of Jato-Aka and moved around the community. Each outburst was followed by roughly five minutes of silence before the next, often louder cry. Dogs across the town began barking and howling in response, children cried inside their homes, and residents said no one dared step outside while the noise persisted.
By morning, conversations about the incident were widespread in the town, yet the post noted that no official statement had been issued by the Tor Geri, community elders, or security agencies.
