Speaker Emberga Launches Women’s Political Movement in Makurdi North Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga, MNIQS, has officially inaugurated the Makurdi North Women for Alia/Berger 2027, a grassroots support group aimed at rallying female voters across the constituency for the re-election of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia and his own second-term bid as federal representative.

The well-attended event took place on Saturday at Triangle, North Bank, Makurdi, and was organized by Mothers of Makurdi North under the coordination of Hon. Mrs. Margaret Shagher. Women from various wards turned out in large numbers to reaffirm their loyalty, pledging unwavering support for both Governor Alia’s second term and Speaker Emberga’s ambition to represent Makurdi North State Constituency at the national level in 2027.

Emberga, who also serves as Governor Alia’s lead Point-Man for Makurdi Local Government Area, thanked the women for their steadfastness before, during, and after the last elections. He urged them to intensify mobilization across all wards and to capitalize on the upcoming Continuous Voters Registration to bring more women into the political fold.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements in less than one year, the Speaker announced that additional road projects in the constituency have already been earmarked and will commence soon, promising further tangible development ahead of the polls.

Other speakers, including Mama Cecilia Aboh (Mbagwen), Mrs. Helen Tar (Nyiev), Mrs. Margaret Orshio (Mbawa), Mrs. Juliana Avaa (Mbavannya), and youth representative Moses Nomsoor, praised the unprecedented accomplishments of Governor Alia and Speaker Emberga, committing continued youth and women backing.

Coordinator Hon. Mrs. Margaret Shagher assured the Speaker of the group’s total dedication to delivering an overwhelming victory for both Alia and Emberga in 2027, describing the women as the “North Bank Mother for AliasBerger.”

The launch signals an early and organized start to campaign efforts in Makurdi North, with women positioned as a pivotal force in securing the desired electoral outcomes.
