In a stirring update from his ongoing odyssey, Nigerian cyclist Emmanuel Myam, better known as Emmiwuks, has shared a reflective post marking Day 127 of his “NIG2USA” journey—a bold bicycle ride from Nigeria to the United States aimed at raising awareness for orphans and internally displaced persons (IDPs) across Africa. Currently stationed in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia, Emmiwuks describes his expedition as more than a personal challenge; it’s a chapter in “Africa’s living history,” woven from threads of hope, resilience, and an unquenchable fire that “refuses to die.”
The post, shared on Facebook under the handle Real-Emmiwuks, paints a vivid picture of transformation. “I’ve read about the great African leaders, freedom fighters, the heroes and dreamers who changed HISTORY,” he writes. “But I never knew that one day, I’d become part of that story.” From the dusty roads of his home country to the borders he’s crossed, Emmiwuks recounts witnessing hunger, kindness, pain, and purpose—each drop of sweat and tear contributing to something greater than himself. “This is not just my story, it’s Africa’s story,” he emphasizes, promising to document every inch with records and unwavering commitment.
Emmiwuks, a proud Benue State native now based in Lagos, kicked off his journey in early July 2025 from the Lagos State University gate, pedaling through West Africa with a mission to spotlight the plight of vulnerable children. His route has taken him across Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea Conakry, Guinea-Bissau, and Senegal, before entering The Gambia—his 11th country. Along the way, he’s encountered cultural exchanges, met dignitaries like Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, and received warm welcomes at Nigerian embassies, such as in Bissau. These interactions have fueled his resolve, turning the trek into a symbol of Pan-African unity.
Titled “THE EMMIWUKS JOURNEY, COMING SOON: Faith, Pain and Progress in Motion,” the update teases a forthcoming full account, complete with Nigerian and American flags signaling his ultimate destination. While the Atlantic Ocean poses a logistical hurdle—likely requiring a ship or flight for the final leg—the cyclist remains undeterred, viewing each day as progress toward inspiring a generation. “The journey has only just begun, and I promise you all, not even an inch of this story will be forgotten,” he assures followers.
Support has poured in from across the continent and beyond, with Emmiwuks thanking his family, fans, and donors for every prayer, share, and word of encouragement. A GoFundMe campaign supports the cause, helping cover essentials as he pushes forward. However, the adventure hasn’t been without concerns; recent posts have sparked health alerts from observers, including a doctor warning about potential kidney issues from facial swelling observed in photos and videos. Despite this, Emmiwuks presses on, embodying the perseverance he champions.
As he rests in Banjul near where the Gambia River meets the Atlantic, Emmiwuks calls for continued solidarity: “Together we Ride. Together we Rise. VIVA AFRICA.” With over 20 African countries potentially on his itinerary before the transatlantic leap, his story continues to captivate, reminding the world of the power in one person’s determined pedal strokes. Followers can track updates on social media, where Emmiwuks shares milestones, challenges, and the human connections that make this more than a ride—it’s a movement for change.
