In a significant development, Ashinjo Vershima Solomon, the media aide to the Leader of the Guma Legislative Council, has tendered his resignation, citing non-payment of remuneration since his appointment. The announcement came via a statement released on Monday, October 20, 2025.
Solomon disclosed that he was appointed on October 18, 2024, by Hon. Godwin Aondohemba Begi, the Leader of the Council. However, he revealed that he has not received any financial compensation from the office since assuming the role. This lack of payment, spanning over a year, prompted his difficult decision to step down.
According to Solomon, the continued absence of payment made it impossible to perform his duties effectively. He stated, “Since my appointment, I have not received any form of remuneration or financial commitment, and this has made it increasingly difficult to continue discharging my duties effectively.” His resignation underscores the challenges faced by staff when financial support is lacking.
Despite the circumstances, Solomon expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve. He emphasized that his decision was necessary to protect his integrity and professional well-being.
This resignation highlights ongoing issues within the Guma Legislative Council regarding staff compensation and raises questions about the administration’s financial management. Further developments are awaited as the situation unfolds.
