Stephen Numbeve, a respected public servant and proud son of Kunav land, has made an impassioned plea to his kinsmen to rise above escalating social media tensions and rally solidly behind Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration.

In a heartfelt and widely circulated message, Numbebeve strongly refuted claims circulating online that only one individual from Kunav land is supporting the governor. He described such narratives as misleading, divisive, and damaging to the collective spirit of the community.

He pointed out that numerous sons and daughters of Kunav are quietly serving in various capacities within the present administration and across different sectors, all contributing meaningfully to the progress and development of Benue State.

“These statements, whether intentional or not, have stirred hurt, anger, and unnecessary division among us,” Numbebeve said. “We did not answer the call to serve to compete against or tear one another down.”

He expressed deep concern that personal attacks and heated exchanges on social media are distracting the community from its higher calling of selfless service, integrity, humility, and purpose-driven leadership.

Numbebeve warned that continued online disputes risk tarnishing the collective image and honour of Kunav people while also undermining the dignity of the governor’s office. He appealed for restraint, urging everyone to avoid inflammatory posts, refrain from deepening tensions, and instead channel genuine concerns through respectful and constructive channels.

“Where words have already caused pain, let us consider correcting or withdrawing them in the interest of peace,” he advised. “Let us choose calm over conflict, unity over division, and service over ego.”

The public servant concluded his message on a hopeful and prayerful note, expressing confidence that peace would prevail among the people of Kunav land and beyond. He prayed for continued guidance by love for one another and an unwavering commitment to the greater good of the state.

Numbebeve’s intervention comes at a time when social media platforms have become a battleground for narratives around political appointments, loyalty, and representation from different zones and ethnic groups in Benue. His call for unity and maturity is seen by many as a timely reminder of the need to prioritize collective progress over personal or factional rivalries, especially in support of the administration working to deliver on its promises to the people.
