As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, Hon. Maurice Orwough, Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Council, extended warm felicitations to the people of Guma and Benue State at large. In his message, he emphasized that Independence Day is not just a celebration of history but a call to responsibility, reminding citizens of the sacrifices made by the nation’s founding fathers for a Nigeria built on unity, peace, and prosperity.
Hon. Orwough reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a society where everyone can thrive. He highlighted ongoing efforts to prioritize security, infrastructure, healthcare, and the empowerment of the people. “These modest strides are inspired by the hope of a better tomorrow, where every citizen feels the true impact of effective governance,” he stated.
The chairman also lauded Governor Alia for his steadfast commitment to the development of Benue State, describing his leadership as visionary, people-oriented, and aligned with the ideals of unity and progress upon which Nigeria was founded. He called on the people of Guma and Benue to continue supporting Governor Alia’s administration, stressing that collective efforts remain the foundation for peace, growth, and sustainable development.
As the nation celebrates, Hon. Orwough urged reflection on the role each individual must play in nation-building, starting from homes, communities, and local governments. “When we stand together in unity and peace, nothing can hinder our progress,” he added.
On behalf of the Guma Local Government Council, he wished all a joyous Independence Day celebration, concluding with a prayer: “May God bless Guma, bless Benue State, and bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Happy Independence Day!”
