Gwer West Chairman Hon. Ormin Victor Condemns Senseless Killings in Naka, Pledges Decisive Action Against Cult Violence

The Chairman of Gwer West Local Governmeznt Area in Benue State, Hon. Ormin Torsar Victor, has strongly condemned the recent wave of killings in Naka, describing them as senseless and barbaric. During a condolence visit on April 13, 2026, he pledged decisive action to dismantle the criminal networks behind suspected cult attacks that have left several families in grief and the community on edge.

Naka, the headquarters of Gwer West, has witnessed rising violence linked to suspected cult activity. The chairman, accompanied by the Divisional Police Officer, DSP Gazma Chazam, visited affected families to assess the situation and reassure residents of the local government’s commitment to restoring peace.

At the residence of youth leader Iorkohol Peter, witnesses described a coordinated attack by over 20 teenagers, reportedly aged 13 to 15, who stormed the compound armed with stones and pestles. In another incident, Tarbo Moses, popularly known as “Hot Body,” died after sustaining injuries from an attack despite being rushed to a private hospital.

Visibly shaken by the incidents, Chairman Victor vowed that the perpetrators would face justice. “We will not tolerate this anymore. Enough is enough,” he declared. He addressed youths and traders in Naka, urging calm while calling for their cooperation with security agencies to help identify and apprehend those responsible.

The chairman has directed security agencies to intensify surveillance and intelligence operations in the area. As tensions continue to linger, residents are asking whether swift enforcement can restore lasting peace in Naka.

The condolence visit and strong statements from the chairman come amid growing concern over the involvement of very young teenagers in violent cult-related activities, raising questions about the underlying factors driving such brutality in the community.
